TUNAVOCADO WRAP RECIPE

I loved tuna fish as a kid (obviously swimming in mayo and salt), but it never really comes to mind to eat as an adult. I have to thank the whole30 for forcing me to get creative with my meals and venture into new - well old - delicious foods. Below is my newly discovered favorite tuna fish recipe that is filling, hormonally beneficial and takes less than 10 minutes to make from start to finish!

TUNAVOCADO WRAP RECIPE

gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, whole30 approved, paleo, keto, low carb, kosher

+ 1 large ripe avocado

+ 4 celery stalks, chopped

+ extra virgin olive oil

+ pink Himalayan salt

+ black pepper

+ onion powder

+ paprika

+ iceberg lettuce or cabbage for the wrap

Hormonal Benefits of Tuna are plentiful. Tuna contains so many vitamins and antioxidants including but not limited to zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D and magnesium.

Its high amount of omega-3 fatty acids, which improves heart health, along with its high level of potassium, combines to result in an anti-inflammatory effect (be careful about the amount of salt you add because too much sodium will counteract the potassium).

The antioxidants in tuna fight free radicals on a cellular level - super beneficial to longevity.

Tuna contains some of the highest levels of the mineral Selenium which handles appetite and mood. Lack of selenium is known to cause anxiety, no thank you. Your body does not make Selenium so we must be conscious of getting it through our foods. For my fellow Thyroiditis, Hashimoto's Disease and Hypothyroidism friends - the thyroid has the highest concentration of Selenium in the entire body. Some studies have shown that the mineral not only slows the progression of thyroid disease, but has the potential to possibly reverse damage done to the thyroid gland via autoimmune disease.

Tuna is a low-calorie, high quality protein which can improve your metabolism function and increase energy. Hey Athletes - not only does the protein rich meat help in building muscle but tuna can shorten recovery time as well, woo! Taller, Better, Faster, Stronger #TeamTuna
